Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879 - April 18, 1955), born in Germany and nationalized in the United States in 1940, is the most famous and important scientist of the twentieth century. "In 1905, as a young physicist unknown employed in the Patent Office of Bern (Switzerland), published his Special Theory of Relativity. It incorporated in a simple theoretical framework and based on simple physical principles, concepts and phenomena studied previously by Henri Poincare and Hendrik Lorentz. Probably the equation of physics better known at the grassroots level is the mathematical expression of the equivalence mass - energy, E = mc ², inferred by Einstein as a logical consequence of this theory. That same year he published some other work that would lay the foundations of statistical physics and quantum mechanics. In 1915 presented the General Theory of Relativity, which completely reworked the concept of gravity. One consequence was the emergence of the scientific study of the origin and evolution of the Universe by the branch of physics called cosmology. Slightly later, Einstein became an icon of popular science achieving global fame, a privilege within reach of very few scientists. Physicists who taught the theory of relativity, such as Werner Heisenberg, were included in blacklists policies. Einstein left Germany in 1933 for the United States, where it was installed at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton and American nationalized in 1940. During his later years Einstein worked to integrate within a single theory the four fundamental forces, a task still unfinished. It is said that when Einstein was on his deathbed seconds before dying pronounce a few words in German that the nurse who took care of at that time, the American Alberta Roszel could not understand and when they finally died, in his blackboard equations were even no conclusion to integrate these forces. Einstein died in Princeton, New Jersey, April 18, 1955.
